Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge

The Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1976 to provide habitat for a large number of fish, waterfowl, and other wildlife that was threatened by commercial and industrial development. The valley is made up of eight land units along the Minnesota River and contains 18 waterfowl areas that is open to the public. The refuge is open from sunrise to sunset, so don't miss your opportunity to come visit the beautiful wildlife in Minnesota.

*The Valley stretches 34 miles long from Fort Snelling State Park to Jordan, Minnesota; which totals in 14,000 acres.

*Over 226 species use the refugeand home about 50 mammals.

*Educational workshops are avaliable for grades k-12.

*Each unit throughout the refuge holds variety of attractions and seasonal activites.

*Voulnteer and internships opportunities are available.

*All the Refuge units and Waterfowl areas are open from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week.
